I always ask my couples what they like to do when they’re not conquering the world or planning a wedding. For Megan and Dustin, fishing is their thing. Dustin proposed on their boat on their favorite lake near Amherst, Wisconsin and wanted to recreate a similar feel for their fishing engagement photos. I was pretty pumped when I discovered they had gone through the trouble of finding me a boat. Mixing adventure, photography, and couples in love makes for my ideal evening.
Their Jack Russell Terrier, Ruckus, joined in on the fun for a family portrait. With the exception of one field mouse, no animals were harmed in the creation of these engagement photos. I successfully did not end up in the water and all camera gear made it back safe and sound.
Katie and I are looking forward to their Fall wedding in Waupaca at the Ale House this October.

We love engagement sessions. They give us an opportunity to be free from the stress of the wedding day and we give our couples permission to be themselves, to let go, and have fun.
Engagement photos should speak to the true nature of two people who are madly in love; the way your bodies speak to one another tells its own story in conjunction with the journey that placed you in front of our cameras. The way you move, smile, laugh, hug, kiss, hold hands – is all unique to your relationship. We all have quirks and sometimes strange ways we interact with those who truly see us for who we are, accepting our flaws and embracing our imperfection. We don’t need to understand every ounce of beauty that exists between two people to be able to be able to capture it; we only need to be able to recognize it.
Natural. Unprovoked. While easier stated than done, it is our approach. By creating a scenario and placing you in it, we encourage you to make mistakes and embrace them. None of us is perfect and we don’t want you to be. Be true. Be kind. And be in love. The rest you can leave to us.
We traveled far and wide this past year capturing couples & their remarkable engagement rings from across Wisconsin with Chicago & Madison being among our favorite destinations. The Wisconsin Northwoods may be our home, but we sure do love to roam. Yep, we’re dorks who love to travel and take pictures. We can’t wait to begin capturing your love story in the months to come!
After a few cancelations due to weather, I finally was able to make the hike up to Chetek / Hillsdale to capture Zach & Erin’s engagement session. Zach’s grandmother’s cabin, which he spent many a summer, was a perfect location filled with great memories and ‘Mr. Mouse’ – one of the biggest Wisconsin mouse on record. Zach and Erin took advantage of the cool weather and caught up on some genuine snuggle time on the dock. After grandma and mom fed us a doughnut, we headed to Hillsdale to visit The Enchanted Barn, where their July wedding will be taking place. I learned a valuable lesson before the wedding, Erin isn’t the biggest fan of horses, and so riding one on the wedding day might be out of the question. These were not your ordinary horses; they were some pretty robust draft mules.
Katie and I can’t wait to capture their Rustic Wisconsin Barn Wedding, which just so happens to include my brother.
Thanks for allowing to us to capture these intimate moments with the two of you! Can’t wait to see what the future has in store ☺

Jenny is from Wisconsin & Matt is from Leeds, England. They call Chicago home after their journey from the East Coast. Katie and I had a wonderful sunny morning spent near the Adler Planetarium with these two and their four-year-old puppy, Hoosier. Jenny and Katie connected over their love for running (sarcasm), while Matt shared a little about his passion for Soccer (football) & Pizza. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day as we strolled along Lake Michigan. The Chicago Skyline made for a wonderful change of scenery, as it isn’t every weekend we get to travel to the city, but we are always glad when we do. Can’t help but smile when we think about how much fun these two are and how incredible their wedding is going to be! We’re so looking forward to capturing their nuptials next August at the Heidel House in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Looking forward to meeting their families – we absolutely love all things English & American. Our dream is to photograph another wedding in the British Isles. 🙂
Thanks for allowing us to capture these intimate photographs of your family. Counting the days.

One of the favorite aspects of what we do is meeting knew people, getting to know their story, how they met, and how they do life together. Engagement sessions are the perfect opportunity to have a conversation with a camera. Making our couples feel comfortable in front of the camera is such a huge part of how I view the success of a shoot. Brooke and Kellan have a sweet serendipitous beginning and share common interests in coaching, teaching, and simply rocking at their jobs as educators. They make you feel like you have known them for years – I see why their students love them so. Granite Peak’s ski lift allowed for an incredible view and a fun hike once we reached the top. Katie and I are thrilled to be capturing their 2014 wedding atop Rib Mountain.
Nate & Megan have a common love for country music and the outdoors. I was pumped when I discovered they were taking me to a cabin in the woods for their fall engagement photos. The leaves had just started to change and the private lake and dock were the perfect backdrop for their session. Nate and Megan will be getting married in Amherst next summer with a reception to follow at the Rothschild Pavilion. So excited for their wedding!
I can’t tell you how excited I am to capture Jessica & Brandon’s Barn wedding next year! It was a little humid, but their engagement session was a wonderful conversation between the three of us and my camera. If you have never been photographed together before your wedding day, I strongly suggest you spend an afternoon with your photographer! It is like a date night.
